Social Scenes
Piccadilly Point is located right in the heart of Manchester city centre. The famous Printworks entertainment complex is a short walk away with bars, clubs, restaurants and a cinema. For something a bit different, head to Manchester’s cultural Northern Quarter where you’ll find some of the city’s best new restaurants.
Manchester has some of the best shopping areas in the UK, most within walking distance of Piccadilly Point. Harvey Nichols and Selfridges sit alongside the redeveloped Arndale Centre, home to 200+ retail outlets, all just a 15-minute walk from the property.
Both Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester University Students’ Unions hold live music events regularly and the Academy, Apollo and Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena are within walking distance.
The Manchester Starflyer at Piccadilly Gardens is the UK’s highest ride attraction, offering an exhilarating way to see the city from up in the air. The attraction is just a short walk from Piccadilly Point.
The Piccadilly Gardens also contains a popular walk-through fountain, a thoughtful metal tree sculpture, a controversial concrete wall courtesy of Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the giant 'Wheel of Manchester'.
Piccadilly Station, just across the road from Piccadilly Point, has a direct tram to the MEN Arena. The venue hosts some of the biggest names in music and entertainment throughout the year.
Getting Active
Piccadilly Point has its own modern built-in gym, complete with weight machines, free weights area, treadmills, rowing machines and much more. Use of the gym is free for our residents, subject to a small induction fee.
The Manchester Aquatics Centre is just five minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Point. Built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the centre has two 50m swimming pools, a diving pool, scuba diving centre, leisure pool with water slides, sauna and steam rooms, sunbeds, and a gym. Students can take advantage of a special discounted membership rate.
There is a PowerLeague centre just a short walk from the property, with five-a-side football facilities that prove very popular with students.
Sports fans are spoilt for choice in Manchester. From Piccadilly Point, head south-west down Stretford Road to Manchester United’s Old Trafford football stadium. Nearby, you’ll also find Old Trafford cricket ground which hosts many England tests.
To the north east of the city sits Sportcity Manchester, home to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, Manchester Velodrome, the National BMX Arena, and the National Squash Centre. This area can be easily reached by the city’s extensive bus and tram network.

Travel and Transport
Manchester Piccadilly train station is one minutes' walk away from Piccadilly Point, offering links throughout the city centre and surrounding areas via the tram system. The station is the main rail link to the rest of the UK, making Piccadilly Point a great place to stay if you like to make the most of your weekends.
There is a free metro shuttle bus that runs throughout the city centre. Metroshuttles link the main rail stations, car parks, shopping areas and businesses in Manchester city centre, and run from Piccadilly, Salford Central, Victoria, Oxford Road and Deansgate rail stations. There are three circular routes covering the main areas in the city centre.
Local Essentials
Just a minute from the property, Piccadilly Station has a Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer’s supermarket, both offering convenient opening hours, from 7:00am-11:00pm, seven days a week. Manchester city centre is a five-minute walk from Piccadilly Point and has a number of larger supermarkets.
The redeveloped Arndale Centre is the centrepiece of Manchester’s shopping area. Home to 200+ shops and restaurants, it’s one of Europe’s largest indoor shopping malls. Piccadilly Point is just 15 minutes’ walk from the centre, or a five-minute bus ride. The quirky Affleck’s Palace is also just a short bus ride from the property, for a more alternative shopping experience.
The new Manchester Metropolitan hub building in the city centre offers a large study library which is less than a mile away from Piccadilly Point. The historic John Rylands library at Deansgate offers a great student study atmosphere. John Rylands Library is 10 minutes’ walk away from Piccadilly Point.
Your Wellbeing
The NHS has a walk-in centre which is used by our residents in the city centre, just two minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Point in the Piccadilly station approach.
Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester Dental Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital are all located on Oxford Road, close to Piccadilly Point.
The universities offer welfare, financial and career advice to all students and these can be found in advice clinics within both MMU and Manchester University campuses. Piccadilly Point is close to all the campus departments so students are never far away from any help they need.
