Kendrick Hall is opposite Reading University's London Road campus and only a 10-minute walk from Whiteknights campus. Reading train station and the town centre are a 15-minute walk away and bus links on London Road and Kendrick Road mean the outskirts of Reading are also very accessible.

Social Scenes
Kendrick Hall is in a great location to experience Reading's entertainment and nightlife, all within walking distance.
Town centre restaurants include popular chains such as Ed’s Easy Diner and Jamie’s Italian, or try Giraffe, for a riverside coffee or cocktail. Catch the latest movies at the 10-screen Vue cinema or hit some of Reading’s bars and clubs including Lola Lo, Sakura and Walkabout which feature special student nights. For comedy, bands, plays and musicals head to the Hexagon theatre.
Reading also hosts one of the UK’s most popular summer music events, the Reading Festival, which takes place just south of the Thames on Richfield Avenue.
What
In Reading’s Oracle shopping centre there’s a fantastic selection of shops including John Lewis, Topshop and an Apple Store.
Other places of interest include Reading Abbey, the ruins of one of Europe’s most prestigious religious and political centres, and Reading Museum, a fine example of Victorian Gothic architecture which hosts exhibitions and events.
There are many large parks nearby, including King’s Meadow and Caversham Court Gardens – or try taking a walk along the Thames or the Kennet and Avon Canal. All are only a short walk or bus ride away from Kendrick Hall.
For live sport, visit the Madejski Stadium, only a few minutes away, which is home to Reading Football Club and the London Irish Rugby Club.
Getting Active
If you want to keep fit there are several gyms just a few minutes’ walk away from Kendrick Hall, some are even open 24 hours a day! Reading University's SportsPark, near Whiteknights campus, provides a wide range of activities from yoga and dance to squash, soccer, tennis and canoeing.

Travel and Transport
Kendrick Hall has fantastic transport links. It’s only a 15-minute walk from Reading train station with direct routes across the country via London Paddington, which you can reach in 30 minutes. There are excellent road links via the M4 and M40. Reading is an ideal location to see more of Britain and be within commutable distance of friends and family.
Bus stops right outside Kendrick Hall make it very easy to get around Reading and surrounding areas too, via the city bus network. The university also runs several bus routes (including some 24-hour routes) from campus to the city centre which can drop you near Kendrick Hall.
Local Essentials
Supermarkets, including a Sainsbury’s superstore, are within a 15-minute walk into town, where there is also a range of cash machines and the main post office. There's a fruit and vegetable market on Hosier Street (behind the Broad Street Mall) and a fortnightly Local Farmers' Market at The Cattle Market, Great Knollys Street.
Your Wellbeing
If you’re a Reading University student you’ll be able to register with the university medical practice and dental surgery on Northcourt Avenue, near Whiteknights campus. If you prefer to register with a different doctor or dentist there are several alternative surgeries within five minutes’ walk of Kendrick Hall.
Reading University provides a range of wellbeing services to its students, including counselling, advice, peer support, and guidance on using National Health Service (NHS) facilities.
Reading’s walk-in health centre is in the city centre, where you’ll also find several pharmacies and opticians, all within a 10-minute walk from Kendrick Hall.
In case of emergency, the Royal Berkshire Hospital is on Redlands Road, a 10-minute walk from Kendrick Hall.
