What’s a fused spur and how should I use it?

What is a fused spur?

A fused spur is a switch that’s used to isolate electrical equipment from the mains supply. You’ll typically find them on the left or right of your oven or hob, and next to or underneath your heater. A typical fused spur switch will look like this:

How do I use a fused spur switch?

If you turn a fused spur switch to ‘off’, this will completely cut off all electrical current to the appliance. This is useful if the appliance needs to be fixed, cleaned or turned off quickly. Otherwise, it’s best to keep the fused spur switch on.

When you want to use an appliance, make sure that the fused spur is switched on.

My appliance isn’t working, what should I do?

If your appliance isn’t working, firstly check that its fused spur is switched on. If the switch is on but your appliance still won’t work, you can raise a maintenance request in the MyUnite app. A member of our team will be able to help.
