Student Life in Liverpool

Liverpool; a city a famous for its music, sports, shopping and student nightlife. From the beautiful waterfront with its variety of activities and eateries, to the array of independent shops and cafes in the bustling city centre, Liverpool has a never ending list of things to do. We sent a group of students to explore Merseyside and experience a sample of some of the things you can get up to in this friendly, lively city.

92 Degrees Coffee

92 Degrees Coffee
Situated near the city centre and close to the universities, Liverpool’s first combined micro-roastery and coffee house serves arguably the best hot drinks in the city. So for a delicious coffee and a homemade cake before lectures, visit 92 Degrees Coffee on Hardman Street. 

China Town

China Town
Home to the largest Chinese Arch outside of China, Liverpool’s China town at night is an exciting mix of some of the best eateries and bars in the city. The Arch itself was constructed to commemorate the twinning of Liverpool and Shanghai and was built by hand and imported piece by piece from China.

Liverpool Cathedral

The cathedral tower tour is probably one of the best spots to grab stunning views of the Merseyside skyline. For a small donation you can reach the top of the longest cathedral in the world and enjoy panoramic views across the city. The cathedral itself is a place of serenity to escape the stresses of student life and relax.

Vintage shopping emporium 69A is the place to be for retro clothing, classic vinyl and even 1980s telephones.  The famous mainstay of Renshaw Street has been open for nearly four decades, so it's the place to visit for a taste of authentic vintage shopping in Liverpool.

Grand Central Market

However outlandish your fashion sense, Grand Central Market has a shop for you. This Grade II listed building caters to vintage, gothic and hippy styles amongst many more. The Hippy Hole is a must-visit for all things tie-dye, where everything is handmade and fairtrade.

Roxy Ball Rooms

Pool, ping-pong, beer-pong and student friendly prices; what more could you want from a bar?! This awesome bar is located right in the city centre, close to Liverpool One, perfect to challenge your friends to some post-shopping competition.

Spring City Trampoline Park

Visit Liverpool’s first trampoline park to master your tumbling skills, perfect your backflip, learn to slam dunk and bounce off the walls. Feeling competitive? There’s an area dedicated to dodge ball to challenge your friends. It's only a short trip away from the city centre where they host a student night as well as fitness classes.

The Beatles Story Exhibition

It wouldn’t be a guide to Liverpool without at least one reference to this iconic band. This is the world's largest interactive exhibition dedicated to the life and times of the Beatles. Experience their story as you wander down replicas of famous 60s streets to learn how they grew into an international phenomenon.

Liverpool Wheel

Liverpool’s answer to the London Eye gives you spectacular views over the Albert Docks, the River Mersey and the Echo Arena, which plays host to some of the world's biggest stars in music and entertainment. One of the best spots in the city to snap a panoramic photo for Instagram! 

Albert Dock

With world renowned museums, art exhibitions, the Echo Arena, the Liverpool Wheel and some of the best restaurants in the city, there’s plenty to do on the docks! By night, the docks are home to great live music as well as the best comedy nights at Liverpool Comedy Central.  

Smugglers Cove

Located on the Albert Dock, this unique pirate themed restaurant is more than just a place to grab some great food. Visit the Smugglers Cove for live music, cocktail master classes from resident mixologists and of course, it wouldn’t be a pirate themed venue without the Rum Club!

Cavern Club

Cavern Club
The Cavern Club is more than just the place where the Beatles made their name, it’s a cultural mainstay of the city and hosts some of the best live music. This friendly venue is full of atmosphere, rich with history and an absolute must visit place for all students.
