What should I do if I’m worried about someone else?

If you’ve got concerns about someone else, there’s a few ways you can support them while not overwhelming yourself.

Student Minds offer advice around how to support your friends, from tips on how to have a conversation to supporting with specific difficulties. There’s also advice on how to look after yourself while you do this, as worrying about others can impact your own wellbeing.

There’s also a dedicated guide on ‘Looking After a Mate’ available online, but sometimes they’ll run workshops at your university too. You can find out here if there’s one near you.

If you have immediate concerns about someone else, contact our Emergency Control Centre on 0300 303 1611. If you’re worried someone is an immediate threat themselves or others, you should call 999 right away
