Social Scenes
The Priory is located in a great location to make the most of student life in Leeds. The bars and pubs in popular student area of Hyde Park are just a 20-minute walk away, plus you’re close to the city centre where you’ll find a huge range of bars, pubs, nightclubs and student nights.
Being so close to university means you have great access to the clubs, bars and shops at the Student’s Union. Check your universities event calendar for upcoming music, sports and social events.
Having the city centre so close means you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping, with a range of high street stores, boutiques and department stores within walking distance.
The Kirkstall Leisure Complex is home to a Vue cinema, Virgin Active Gym and restaurants including Nando's.
Head to Millennium Square for more restaurants, cafés and bars. Different events and festivals are held here throughout the year so look out for the next event.
What
Roundhay Park is a great place to relax with friends. The park is one of the biggest city parks in Europe with lakes, woodland and gardens – perfect for sunbathing in the summer and sledging on Hill 60 in the snow in the winter.
The University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University Students’ Unions are great venues for live music, with a great event calendar of up-and-coming and chart topping bands and artists.
Newly opened in the city is Leeds First Direct Arena, a 13,500 capacity venue which hosts many music, comedy and theatre tours from some of the World’s most famous acts. The venue is just 15 minutes’ from The Priory, meaning you’ll have great access to your favourite stars’ live performances.
Music and art lovers are well provided for with chamber music, jazz, classical and rock at live venues across the city. The City Art Gallery houses the Henry Moore Centre for the Study of Sculpture and the Abbey House Museum and Royal Armouries are just two of Leeds' museums. 
The city has a wide variety of sights and events to experience including the Medieval Kirkstall Abbey, canals and museums. The city is also home to the famous Leeds Festival – one of the biggest music festivals in the UK.
Plus, don’t miss the Leeds Waterfront Festival for food, music, stalls and the Dragonboat Race.
 
Getting Active
The Priory is less than 10 minutes’ walk from your university’s gym where you’ll also find leading sports facilities for Rugby, Football, Hockey, tennis and Badminton amongst others. These venues are generally available for students to use throughout the year, meaning you can always pop down for a quick work out or game with your friends.
A number of private gyms such as Pure Gym and Virgin Active are close by as well, Pure Gym offers cheap monthly contracts while Virgin Active offers state of the art gyms, fitness classes and a swimming pool.
Whilst living in Leeds, it’s worth taking a trip to Elland Road Stadium to see Leeds United Football Club. The ground is just a short bus ride from The Priory.
Rugby fans are spoilt for choice with both the Rugby League World Club Challenge winners Leeds Rhinos, and the Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union Club both based at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Highly popular with students and locals alike, the tickets are great value and the atmosphere is electric.

Close and convenient

Travel and Transport
The Priory is located on the University of Leeds campus  and within 10 minutes’ walk from Leeds Beckett University and Leeds College of Art so it will just be a short stroll down the road to lectures each day.
A number of bus stops are close to the property, for buses across the city and to the train station. Leeds Bradford International airport is less than 9 miles away.
Leeds train station is a 15 minute walk from the property or a short bus journey, for trains across the UK. Direct trains run to London, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester and Edinburgh, among others.
Additionally, The Priory is located just 8 minutes’ drive from junction 3 of the M621 motorway which connects to the M62, and is close to the M1. This makes Leeds a great starting point for exploring more of the UK at weekends and during the holidays.
Local Essentials
The city centre, less than 15 minutes’ walk away, is home to all the high street banks and shops that you’d expect in a popular University city.
A couple of supermarkets including a Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s are within 15 minutes’ walk and a number of convenience stores are close by including the shops and cafés on campus.
You'll find banks, convenience stores, a bookshop, takeaways, bars, cafes and a pharmacy within 10 minutes from the property on the university campus and Woodhouse Lane.
 
Your Wellbeing
The universities offer welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus. As The Priory is close to both universities you’ll never be far away from help and advice if you need it.
Aside from the campus facilities, Leeds General Infirmary Hospital is located just an 8-minute walk away.
