Our partnership with the British Heart Foundation

Since 2012 we have raised over £340,000 for charity from our students donating unwanted items into the donation points in each of our properties.

Our current partner is the British Heart Foundation (BHF), who are the nation’s heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research.
Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer and the BHF are leading the fight against it. Their pioneering research has helped transform the lives of people living with heart and circularity conditions.

Start Saving Lives: Support The British Heart Foundation

Donate, recycle and help save lives by donating your unwanted items to the BHF. You can play your part by following these easy steps.

What can and cannot be donated

It’s important that the right items are donated. This helps BHF save time and money sorting through donations, meaning your items are in their shops quicker, raising vital funds.
When donating your items, don’t forget to use a BHF red donation sack, which you can get from the reception of your property.
The list below will help guide you on what you can and cannot donate:

Can be donated

  • Accessories and bags
  • Artwork
  • Clothes
  • Collectables
  • Cookware
  • Crockery, cutlery and glassware
  • Frames
  • iPods and MP3 players
  • Jewellery
  • Laptops, tablets and mobile phones
  • Memorabilia
  • Mirrors
  • Shoes

Cannot be donated

  • Used bed-linen
  • Duvets
  • Pillows
  • Broken or dirty items
  • Unwashed clothes
  • Sharp knives

The difference you will make

Your support will help save lives. On average each sack donated to the BHF raises as much as £20 for the charity.

Each sack could fund an hour of vital support from a BHF Helpline Cardiac Nurse to answer patients’ questions.
