Social Scenes
Located within easy walking distance of Oxford Road and the city centre, as well as being close to both university campuses, Cavendish Place offers a great location for making the most out of your time as a student in Manchester.
Both University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University Students’ Unions are just a short walk from Cavendish Place and host a range of student nights throughout the year. Alternatively, the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena, O2 Academy and The Apollo are all close by.
Cavendish Place is 20 minutes’ walk from the Arndale Shopping Centre, one of Europe’s largest city centre shopping malls housing over 200 food and retail outlets.
The famous Printworks entertainment complex is a short bus ride away with bars, clubs, restaurants and a cinema. For something a bit different, head to Manchester’s cultural Northern Quarter where some of the finest new restaurants are based.
A Spar convenience store is situated on Cambridge Street, two minutes’ walk from Cavendish Place, and there is a large ASDA supermarket less than five minutes on the bus, on Princess Parkway.
For live music and comedy gigs, the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena is highly popular and hosts some of music and entertainment's biggest names on tour. Alternatively, try the O2 Academy or either of the Students’ Unions.
Manchester’s vibrant music scene extends to smaller venues, many of which are very popular with students, such as Cornerhouse, Big Hands, Kro and Black Dog Ballroom – all of which are located on Oxford Road, just around the corner from Cavendish Place.
To try something different from the city centre, Whitworth Park is a great, large park on Oxford Road, right next to the University of Manchester campus.
Just a little further down the road, you’ll find Richmond Park and Platt Fields Park next to Manchester University Fallowfield Campus.
Getting Active
The Manchester Aquatics Centre is just five minutes’ walk from Cavendish Place. Built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the centre has two 50m swimming pools, a diving pool, scuba diving centre, leisure pool with water slides, sauna and steam rooms, sunbeds, and a gym.
Sports fans are spoilt for choice in Manchester. From Cavendish Place, head south west down Stretford Road to Old Trafford football stadium, home to the legendary Manchester United. Nearby, you’ll also find Old Trafford Cricket Ground which hosts many England tests.
To the north east of the city sits Sportcity Manchester, home to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, Manchester Velodrome, the National BMX Arena, and the National Squash Centre. This area can be easily reached by the city’s extensive bus and tram network.

Travel and Transport
Cambridge Street has bus routes in and out of the city centre, with a bus stop just a minutes’ walk from the property. Oxford Road station is within a five-minute walk of Cavendish Place, which offers access to Manchester city centre and the wider area.
Manchester has one of the busiest bus routes in Europe, and Cavendish Place puts you right in the heart of the action so getting around will never be a problem. The city also benefits from a fast and efficient tram system.
Local Essentials
Cavendish Place has a Spar convenience store nearby on Cambridge Street. A larger ASDA supermarket is on Princess Parkway, a short taxi or bus journey away.
The city centre has various shopping centres providing an excellent choice of shops, such as the huge 200+ store Arndale Centre, which is just 20 minutes’ walk from the property.
Cavendish Place is a short walk from a range of useful shops in the city centre. Popular student outlets include B&M, Branded Bargains and TJ Hughes – perfect for getting all the essentials sorted.
A range of banks can be found locally on Oxford Road, running through the University of Manchester just a short walk from Cavendish Place.
Your Wellbeing
The NHS has walk-in centres across the city centre. The nearest is the NHS centre on Piccadilly Approach. Alternatively, there is a Boots on Market Street which has a walk-in centre in store.  
The Vallance Centre on Brunswick Street has a doctor's surgery, and is just five minutes’ walk from Cavendish Place
