Yoga: 3 Great YouTube channels to try at home for free
How do you slow down and relax? Everybody has their own way – whether it’s going to the gym or playing guitar. Me? I like to do yoga.
If you’ve heard that yoga is just exercise, think again. Yoga is so much more. It’s part of a whole philosophy, closely connected with meditation and relaxation.
To know what yoga is, you’ll need to try it. It’s good for your body, it can help you to relax and concentrate, and you can do it anywhere at any time!
How to get started with yoga
There are so many different kinds of yoga you can try, from Hatha and Ashtanga to Vinyasa and Kundalini yoga. You can do yoga in a hammock (aeroyoga), a hot room (bikram yoga), or even on a paddle board.
But if you just want to calm your mind for a moment, you don’t need to go to some special class. Of course, it’s good to have an instructor show you what to do but, if you don’t have time or money for that, you can do yoga at home.
Practising yoga at home
You’ll need just comfortable clothes, a good internet connection (at first) and space for a mat. There are a lot of amazing online yoga courses, but there are three that I really like (and they’re free).
Adriene Mishler is one of the best yoga teachers around. She has amazing videos on Youtube, where you’ll find different kinds of yoga and meditations, both short and long. You can find yoga for tourists, yoga on the road, gentle yoga, bedtime yoga, and much more.
This is one of my most favourite videos. It’s bedtime yoga and it can help you relax on busy study days.
This is another amazing YouTube channel. Lesley Fightmaster is doing a good job keeping us motivated and relaxed. On her channel you can find hatha yoga videos, morning yoga, yoga for flexibility, detox yoga, yoga for stress - I am sure that you’ll find some kind of yoga to suit you.
Candace is an international yoga instructor and the writer behind the popular yoga lifestyle blog Yoga by Candace. And she’s doing yoga videos too. Try this video to feel better after a tough day.
If you don’t want to watch videos you can just listen to some music, relax, and do what your body wants. I have some music that helps me do that. The YouTube channel is called YellowBrickCinema - Relaxing Music, and they have hours of music that’s perfect for meditation and relaxation.
If you just want to lie in your bed and calm your mind, you can listen to guided meditation. I can recommend Michael Sealey’s YouTube channel. I love his meditations, they’re so special.
