Our fully equipped studio apartments are perfect if you prefer to live independently and study in private. As well as a double bed, you'll have a fully fitted kitchen, separate en-suite shower room with sink and toilet.

Studios measure approximately 6.8m x 5m squared and have plenty of storage space under your bed in addition to a wardrobe, drawers and shelves.

Social Scenes
Magnet Court is in the perfect location between Newcastle Students' Union and the city centre, meaning you’re never more than a quick walk from the heart of student life in Newcastle.
A large Morrisons supermarket is a short bus or taxi ride away on Shields Road in Byker, while a smaller Sainsbury’s Local is in the building next door. There is also a Chinese supermarket five minutes’ walk away.
Northumberland Street in Newcastle city centre is home to many large retailers. The entrance to Eldon Square shopping centre is also found on Northumberland Street which includes John Lewis, Debenhams, Topshop and many more high street fashion outlets.
You will find a huge range of bars, pubs and restaurants in areas such as The Gate, The Diamond Strip and the famous Bigg Market and Quayside.
The MetroCentre in Gateshead is home to 340 shops and restaurants and was, until recently, Europe’s largest shopping centre. The MetroCentre can be reached via regular bus services which take just 15 minutes from the city centre.
Magnet Court is five minutes’ walk away from Newcastle University campus, meaning whatever you’re studying you’ll always be close to your department. Also, you’ll have great access to the many music and entertainment events hosted at the Students' Union every year.
If you’re looking to relax after lectures or at the weekend, take a walk down to Exhibition Park for a spot of sunbathing and a game of frisbee, or visit the Millennium Bridge for views stretching across the River Tyne.
Jesmond Dene public park is a popular student venue in the spring and summer terms, with hundreds of students meeting to have picnics, play games and hang out. The park is just a short bus ride from Magnet Court, meaning our students are always ready to make the most of the sunshine.
You’ll want to take advantage of the surrounding areas while in Newcastle, so jump on the train and visit historic Durham or have a day out in Hexham. The train station is a short 15-minute walk from Magnet Court.
Getting Active
Recognised as one of the best universities in the UK for sport, Newcastle University has ranked in the top 15 of the British Universities Sport Association (BUSA) league for the past seven years. It has over 60 established sports clubs, professional coaching and an Elite Athletes Squad and sports scholarships for high-performing athletes.
The Centre for Physical Recreation and Sport is just 10 minutes’ walk away and offers both performance sport and more casual exercise classes such as aerobics, yoga and dance classes.
For fans of professional sports, St James’ Park – home of world-famous Newcastle United football club and setting for the ‘Goal’ films – is a five-minute walk away. Kingston Park Rugby Ground, home of the Newcastle Falcons, is a 20-minute Metro journey.
Get Active Newcastle offers excellent rewards for students through council-run membership schemes to local gyms such as Eldon Leisure.

Travel and Transport
Magnet Court is located on Gallowgate, a stone’s throw from the Students' Union and Newcastle University campus. With such a great location on the edge of campus, Magnet Court students can take advantage of all the benefits of campus life with the added benefit of being very close to the city centre.
A regular Metro train service operates in Newcastle with five stations within walking distance of Magnet Court. Byker is only a few stops away and is home to a large Morrisons superstore. The Metro service also has a direct line through Newcastle train station and out to Newcastle airport. It also links Newcastle to its neighbouring city, Sunderland.
Newcastle train station offers regular services to London as well as Manchester, Edinburgh and the rest of the UK.
Local Essentials
Eldon Square shopping centre is just five minutes’ walk from Magnet Court. Open until 8:00pm every weekday, the centre is home to over 150 high street names such as Debenhams, John Lewis, world-famous brands including Apple, Guess and Hollister, and flagship stores for New Look, River Island and Topshop.
You will also be spoilt for choice when deciding where to eat, drink and relax during your stay, with an exciting choice of cafés and restaurants including Esquires Coffee, Nando's, Pizza Express, Starbucks Coffee, Strada, Wagamama and more.
Just a few Metro stops away from Magnet Court is a large Morrisons supermarket, as well as a range of smaller food shops and takeaways just down the road.
The city centre, just a five-minute walk away, is home to all the high street banks and shops that you’d expect in a popular university city.
Closer to home, the Newcastle Students' Union has a convenience store with snacks, basic foods and newspapers, a Santander bank and Subway. There is also a book store right next to campus with all the textbooks you’ll need for your course.
The Robinson Library is located on campus and is about 10 minutes’ walk from Magnet Court and the main City Library is approximately 15 minutes away.
Your Wellbeing
The University offers welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus. Magnet Court is in close proximity to all the campus departments so students are never far away from the help they may need.
Aside from the campus facilities, the Royal Victoria Infirmary is located opposite the main university campus, only five minutes from Magnet Court. The hospital has a GP walk-in service which runs alongside its accident and emergency unit. The New Croft Centre offers sexual health and family planning services and is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Magnet Court.
