James Watt, part of Aston Student Village is situated around Aston’s lake and offers the perfect place to stay whilst studying. Just a short walk from Birmingham City centre, the University campus and surrounded by local amenities, everything you’ll need is on your doorstep.

Facilities at James Watt

Our friendly reception will be open Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm and Saturday 9am - 5pm.
Common Room
The common room has a pool table, table tennis, sofas, TV and a vending machine.
Laundry Facilities
The laundry room is located on the ground floor. Machines are operated through the MyUnite app.
Outside Space
James Watt is located adjacent to Aston University's open landscaped campus.
Parking is not available at James Watt.
Bike Storage
Bike storage is available at James Watt. If you are planning on bringing your bike then please remember to bring your own bike lock.
Recycling facilities are available at James Watt.
Fire Test Day
Fire alarms are fitted throughout the property. Your fire alarm test day is Friday.
Key Type
You will receive a key card on arrival at the property, which you can use to access your room and communal areas.

Where do I collect my key?

You can collect your keys from the common room when you check in*. Just come with your photo ID and they will have the keys ready and waiting for you.
*You will be directed to your key collection point on the day.

Where can I park and unload my car?

There is no parking available on campus. Drop off only parking is available on Jennens Road, B4 7PB in Carpark 12. Long/Short stay parking is available at Millennium Point, B4 7AP; NCP, Londonderry House, B4 7LX; Curzon Street, B4 7XG and NCP High Street, B4 7LN.

When can I move in?

You can check in at any point from the start date of your tenancy. You can find your tenancy start date in your tenancy agreement or by logging into MyAccount here.
If you are going to be arriving much later than the start of your tenancy, just let us know and we will arrange for someone to be there to greet you and make sure you get the keys to your new home. If you are planning to move in outside of our reception opening hours, please contact our emergency contact centre on 0300 303 1611.
