What should I do if there’s a power cut?

If there’s a power cut, our emergency lighting will switch on to provide some light in the building.

There are a few things you can do to stay safe and comfortable:

  • Use a torch or your phone light if needed

  • Charge your phone, laptop and any power banks you have if you still have power

  • Keep your fridge and freezer doors closed to help keep food cold

  • Don’t use candles or any open flames, as these are a fire risk

  • Keep warm by wearing extra layers, such as a jumper or using blankets

  • Keep some food available that doesn’t need cooking

If we have a planned power outage, we’ll let you know in advance with any information you need.

It may take some time to safely restore the power. If nearby buildings have power but your property doesn’t, it may just mean your building needs additional checks before power can be restored.

Our teams may need to enter your flat to check equipment, help restore power or make sure everyone is safe. We’ll let you know if we need access.

If you need support during a power cut, contact us or speak to your Property Team.
