The spectacular 100ft-high railway viaduct runs right in front of the property. And just behind, the woodlands of Flass Vale nature reserve provide an idyllic setting for a break from study.

If you are hungry but don’t want to cook, Durham has a lot to offer… Within walking distance from Rushford Court, you will find a wide range of bars to suit every taste. If you fancy light snacks, there are cafés, coffee shops or tearooms. There’s even an ice cream parlour and milkshake bar if that’s what you’re in the mood for.
 
Durham is a foodie’s paradise with every kind of restaurant you could want including Spanish, Asian, Mexican and Indian. Fancy a drink in a traditional English pub with an open fire? The city has plenty of pubs for you to choose from. If you’re looking for something a little livelier, Durham also boasts a number of great bars.

Durham is home to The Gala Theatre and Cinema. So if you fancy watching a film or a show, you have the choice right on your doorstep.
 
You can also find Wharton Park on North Road. You can laze around in the park or join in with one of the park’s many events throughout the year.
 
Durham Cathedral is worth a visit too. It is one of the great buildings of Europe. So even if you’re not religious, step inside and admire the architecture!

In the city centre you'll find Freemans Quay Leisure Centre, so if you fancy a swim, workout, fitness class or personal training, the great facilities there will help you stay in shape.

If you own or have access to a rental bike, cycling in Durham offers incredible views of the varied landscapes across the city. You can see the sights of the Durham Dales, North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and take in dramatic views from the Durham Heritage.

Travel and Transport
The property is ideally located within a 5-minute walk to the train and the bus station. If you enjoy walking, Durham is a great city to walk around. You can also hire a bike in the city centre and make use of Durham’s cycle routes.  Durham University also offer a range of free bus services to get you around the different campuses.
Local Essentials
There are a range of local amenities on North Road including a Sainsbury’s food shop and a range of other local shops. Prince Bishops shopping centre and the market place is a 15-minute walk away from Rushford Court. Out of town, the Arnison Centre is a 20-minute bus ride away from the property where you will find another range of shops. Durham city centre is about a 10-minute walk from the property, or if you’d like to explore another city, you can jump on the train and go to Newcastle.
