Social Scenes
Sugarhouse Close is ideally located to make the most of Edinburgh Student Life. The Royal Mile and Princes Street offer all the bars, pubs, cafés and entertainment you could ask for. 
The areas of Grassmarket and Cowgate are student favourites for bar, student nights and live music. The property is just 10 minutes’ walk away so you’re never far from great night life.
For shopping head to Princes Street for a great range of high street shops, boutiques, coffee shops, and local places with unique Scottish influence.
 
What
Sugarhouse Close is in a great location for exploring all that Edinburgh has to offer, both old and new. Edinburgh is a city of great historical beauty, with the centrepiece the famous Edinburgh Castle just a short walk away.
Beautiful green spaces can be found across the city. The property is just a few minutes’ walk from Arthur’s Seat, the extinct volcano, which offers great walks and stunning view of the city. Plus, The Meadows, Prices Street Gardens and Regent Gardens are within 15 minutes – ideal for a picnic on a sunny day.
Princes Street, Scott Monument, Royal Mile, Calton Hill and St Giles Cathedral are all also worth a visit and within walking distance of the property.
Alternatively, you can take a look at the buried past of Edinburgh by exploring below the streets at Mary Kings Close or become a part of history in Edinburgh Dungeon.
There are many other attractions worth visiting, such as Camera Obscura, Whisky Heritage Centre, Our Dynamic Earth, Royal Yacht Britannia and Edinburgh Zoo.
Museums and galleries are scattered throughout the city; the National Museum of Scotland, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Scottish National Gallery and the Dean Galleries are all close to the city centre.

Getting Active
Edinburgh offers a range of sporting facilities to take advantage of during your time with us. The city’s universities have gym and sports facilities on campus, which are just a short walk from the property. Alternatively, there is a gym at the Meadows, just a few minutes’ walk from Sugarhouse Close, and another gym on Calton Road.
A short trip to the overlooking Pentland Hills offers skiing, cycling and climbing opportunities.
There are several international standard teams located in the city. Rugby fans will want to visit Murrayfield Stadium, home to the Scottish Rugby team and international rugby games. If football is more your thing, then local rivals Hibernian and Hearts have stadiums worth a day out at Easter Road and Tynecastle Stadium respectively.

Travel and Transport
Sugarhouse Close is located right in the heart of Edinburgh making it a great base to explore the city. You’ll be within walking distance of many attractions in the city as well as having great transport links to take you further afield.
While Edinburgh is easy to walk around, Lothian buses run a well-connected bus system that reaches all areas of the city the nearest bus stop is just a few minutes from the property. 
Waverley station is less than 15 minutes’ walk away for trains across Scotland and the UK. Direct trains to Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, London and Manchester run from this station. You’ll also have access to all major bus routes.
You can reach Edinburgh Airport on the 100 bus service for flights to the rest of Europe.
Local Essentials
At Sugarhouse Close you’ll have everything you need close by. There is a Tesco supermarket next door, and you’re within a 10-minute walk from two other supermarkets.
The Royal Mile is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the property giving you easy access to a wide choice of banks, hairdressers, shops and amenities.
There are plenty of shops, banks and supermarkets within walking distance of Sugarhouse Close, ranging from express supermarkets to specialist stores, in Leith Walk and on the Royal Mile. 
For a more extensive range of shops, head for Princes Street and George Street which offer high street and designer stores such as Jenner’s and John Lewis. 
Cinemas are close by at Fountain Park, Lothian Road, Omni Centre and Ocean Terminal, plus there’s a huge variety of bars and restaurants located throughout the city.
Princes Mall, St James Centre and Ocean Terminal also boast shopping malls if you’d rather head indoors to do your shopping.
Your Wellbeing
There are a few doctor’s practises and clinics close to Sugarhouse Close and you can register with a nearby dentist when you come to Edinburgh.
Your university will also offer welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus.
