Social Scenes
The Old Printworks is in an ideal location which has everything that a student could need. The popular area of Newington is a 2 minute walk, offering many bars, restaurants and supermarkets.  The Meadows is a 10 minute walk, famous for its student BBQs in summer! Also a short walk away is the best night scene in Edinburgh for students, the Cowgate and Grassmarket. Here you’ll find a variety of bars, pubs and lots of gigs.
What
A city of great historical beauty, Edinburgh has much to explore during your stay. Take in the history of Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, Scott Monument, Royal Mile, Calton Hill and St Giles Cathedral. Alternatively, you can take a look at the buried past of Edinburgh by exploring below the streets at Mary Kings Close or become a part of history in Edinburgh Dungeon.
Getting Active
Edinburgh offers a range of sporting facilities to take advantage of during your time with us. The city’s universities have gym and sports facilities on campus, which are just a short walk from the property.
For a change of pace, a short trip to the overlooking Pentland Hills offers skiing, cycling and climbing opportunities.
There are several international standard teams located in the city. Rugby fans will want to visit Murrayfield Stadium, home to the Scottish Rugby team. If football is more your thing, then local rivals Hibernian and Hearts have stadiums worth a day out at Easter Road and Tynecastle Stadium respectively.

Close and convenient

Travel and Transport
While Edinburgh is easy to walk around, Lothian buses run a well-connected bus system that reaches all areas of the city. The nearest bus stop is just at the top of the road.
If you need to get to King’s Building you can take the free shuttle bus from Potterrow, which stops just outside the property.
Being so close to the city centre, it’s easy to walk to Waverley Train Station to travel south of Edinburgh. Alternatively, you can take the number 100 bus service which links the city centre to Edinburgh Airport where you can fly to continental Europe.
Local Essentials
There is a Sainsburys Local South on Clerk Street which is great for picking up basics food items. With lots of great cafés, sandwich shops and The Meadows so close by, there’s always somewhere great to go for lunch.
There is a range of amenities near the property, ranging from supermarkets to specialist stores from Princes Street to the Royal Mile.
Cinemas are close by at Fountain Park, Lothian Road, Omni Centre and Ocean Terminal.
Retail shopping is throughout the city, Princes Street, George Street and Multrees Walk offer high street and designer stores with Jenner’s and John Lewis at the east and west ends.
 
Your Wellbeing
There are a few doctors and dental practices and clinics close by, and you can register with Practice when you arrive in Edinburgh. St Leonard’s Doctors Surgery and Parkside Dental are both a short walk away. Your university will also offer welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus.
Edinburgh Royal Infirmary is a short bus or taxi ride should you need to use its services. If you need to access the hospital, the team will be happy to help you make travel arrangements.
