Chalmers Street is situated next to the Meadows, a large park in the Marchmont area, and just a short walk from the University of Edinburgh’s George Square campus and Napier University’s Merchiston campus. All main bus routes to other campuses are also close by. The property is in a great location to make the most of your time as a student in Edinburgh, with Grassmarket, Quartermile, Lothian Road, Princes Street and the Royal Mile all within walking distance. These local areas are home to bars, restaurants, supermarkets and gyms, meaning you’ve got everything you need right on your doorstep!

Facilities at Chalmers Street

Reception
Our friendly reception team are open from 10am-6pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am - 12:30pm.
Common Room
Chalmers Street has a common room which includes comfortable sofas, TV with DVD player, Wii & PS4 console, pool table and hot drinks. There is also a study area with a HD monitor and HD wall points which can be used for presentations.
Laundry Facilities
The laundry room is located next to the common room. Machines are operated through the MyUnite app.
Outside Space
There are two Courtyard spaces at Chalmers Street, one is a grassed area and the other has decking and seating. We also have picnic benches and a ping pong table. At the rear of the property there is another grassed area with a raised planting bed.
Parking
There is no parking available at Chalmers Street. There is a NCP car park nearby on Castle Terrace.
Bike Storage
Bike storage is available at Chalmers Street – if you are planning on bringing your bike then please remember to bring your own bike lock.
Recycling
Recycling facilities are available at Chalmers Street. Please take care not to contaminate with different types of refuse. We also have British Heart Foundation charity donation points for unwanted but usable items such as clothes, food banks and a donation library.
Fire Test Day
Fire alarms are fitted throughout the property. Your fire alarm test day is Monday at 12pm. Your fire assembly point is located outside at the front, next to Meadows Park.
Key Type
You will receive a room key and mailbox key on arrival at the property, which you can use to access your room and communal areas.
Emergencies
Our Emergency Contact Centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just call 0300 303 1611 for assistance.
 

Important information for check-in day at Chalmers Street

Where do I collect my key?

You will need to go to Reception to check-in. Once you have checked in you will receive your key in the form of a key card.

Where can I park and unload my car?

There is no parking onsite however if there is space near the building you can pull up for 5 minutes to drop off belongings however please check with a member of the onsite team first. To allow the other people in the building to drop their belongings off, customers are asked to unload and then move their car to either the pat and display parking on Chalmers Street or alternatively NCP Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2EW.

When can I move in?

You can move in at any point between the start of your tenancy and up to four weeks later. Got an Android or iOS phone? Tell us when you plan to arrive in the free MyUnite app.
Download the app, select Check-in day from the main menu, and choose your preferred date and time. Not sure when your tenancy starts? Your start date is displayed in the app as you go through this process.
Need to change your arrival date or time? Just go back to the app and edit your choices. And don't worry if you get delayed on moving day, we’ll get you settled whenever you arrive.
