Make yourself at home

Chaucer House is brand new and close to our Greetham Street property. It's right next to Portsmouth and Southsea railway station and 10 minutes walk to the university. There are a mixture of en-suite flats and studios with great study space and communal areas.
Here you'll find everything you need to know about your new home and the surrounding area, as well as important information on check-in day, specific to your property.

Facilities at Chaucer House

Our friendly reception will be open between 8am - 8pm and 9am - 5pm Saturday.
Common Room
There are a number of relaxation zones in different areas of the building and there are 2 common rooms including games areas with table tennis, pool and table football; chill out spaces with sofas and TVs. There are also study rooms with ethernet ports and desks with plugs for USB charging.
Laundry Facilities
The laundry room is located on the ground floor. Machines are operated through the MyUnite app.
There is no parking available at Chaucer House.
Bike Storage
The bike store is located to the rear of the building and a Key/Pass will be required for access. If you are planning on bringing your bike then please remember to bring your own bike lock.
Recycling facilities are available at Chaucer House.
Fire Test Day
Fire alarms are fitted throughout the property. Your fire alarm test day is Tuesday at 10.30am. Your fire assembly point is located at Isambard Brunel Car Park opposite Chaucer House.
Key Type
You will receive a wristband or card on arrival at the property, which you can use to access your room and communal areas.

Where do I collect my key?

You will need to go to Reception to check-in. Once you have checked in you will receive your key in the form of a wristband or card.

Where can I park and unload my car?

Drop off points will be available outside the building in 20 minute windows. Help will be on hand to assist. For longer parking there is an NCP multi-storey nearby (Isambard Brunel NCP Car Park PO1 2BX) with no maximum stay and prices starting from £1.60 per hour. There are also other paid car parks across the city.

When can I move into Chaucer House?

You can check in at any point from the start date of your tenancy. You can find your tenancy start date in your tenancy agreement or by logging into MyAccount here.
If you are going to be arriving much later than the start of your tenancy, just let us know and we will arrange for someone to be there to greet you and make sure you get the keys to your new home. If you are planning to move in outside of our reception opening hours, please contact our emergency contact centre on 0300 303 1611
