The famous Bullring shopping centre is located just 8 minutes’ walk away and houses a great collection of high street fashion, department stores, designer boutiques, tech shops and cafés.
Broad Street offers student night life at its best. Take your pick of the wide choice of bars, pubs and night clubs including the super club PRYZM with loads of different rooms and world famous DJs.
Just next to Broad Street along the canal is Brindley Place – packed full of restaurants, bars and cafés including Slug and Lettuce, All Bar One and Pizza Express.
As the UK’s second largest city – Birmingham has a full calendar of events including food festivals, music festivals such as Wireless Festival, and international sporting events like the Rugby World Cup in 2015.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. Take in the views, chill out with mates, grab a picnic or study in the sun.
Did you know that Birmingham has more miles of canals than Venice or Amsterdam? The canal offers a great place to cycle and with so many miles of canal you’ll be spoilt for choice of canalside relaxation spots.
Birmingham Hippodrome offers a fantastic night at the theatre. The Hippodrome is 100 years old and now hosts some of the biggest touring shows in the country. The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is great for art enthusiasts with large collections of paintings and exhibitions.
Getting Active
There are numerous gyms, swimming pools, health and racket clubs and associations throughout the city, many of which offer student rates. The Gym and LA Fitness are close to Jennens Court. Plus, the central location of Jennens Court means all of your universities fitness and sports facilities will be in easy reach.
Birmingham is home to Aston Villa, Birmingham City and West Brom football clubs. With three large stadiums within the city, you have a choice of top level football venues within 30 minutes of the property.
Aston Villa’s Villa Park stadium is located just up the Aston expressway. One of the founding members of the football league, Villa Park is one of the truly great Victorian English football stadiums and is well worth a visit on match day.
The NIA in city centre has been one of the top sporting arenas, holding parts of the Olympics, and has even hosted indoor show jumping and indoor rowing!

Close and convenient

Travel and Transport
Birmingham has fantastic transport links and being based in the city centre means you are close to train, bus and road networks. The local buses are very dependable and offer discounted rates to students offering monthly and termly passes which can be used in the Birmingham and Black Country areas.
There is a National Express Bus Station in Digbeth, only 15 minutes’ walk from Jennens Court, which offers cheap travel all around the UK.
There are three main train stations in the city centre. New Street Station is the largest and just 15 minutes’ walk from Jennens Court. Snow Hill and Moor Street Stations also just a short walk away.
Birmingham International Airport is one of the largest airports in the UK and is easily accessible by both train and bus. Hop off the train at Birmingham International train station and you’re right at the airport, alternatively, grab a bus from the city centre.
Local Essentials
A Simply Fresh convenience store is attached to the building, for all your groceries. Plus, there are numerous small supermarkets all within 15 minutes’ walk of Jennens Court, including two Tesco’s and a Sainsbury’s. There is a larger Aldi and ASDA both a short bus journey away.
There are libraries provided by both BCU and Aston University within walking distance of Jennens Court, and the national Library is only 15-minutes’ walk away.
All major banks can be found on or around Corporation Street less than 10 minutes’ walk away. Lloyds TSB is based at Dale End and is the nearest high street bank at just 5 minutes’ walk away.
Your Wellbeing
Your university will also offer welfare, financial and career advice to all its students and these can be found in various advice clinics across campus. 
The local walk-in centre and GPs surgery is based on the ground floor of Boots in the city centre and is only a 10-minute walk away from Jennens Court. The Boots is also your local pharmacy.
In case of emergency, City Hospital is on Dudley Road and is only a short 10-minute journey via taxi.
