Grand Central is situated next to the Bullring and above Birmingham New Street Station and has a number of popular restaurants and cafés to choose from.

If you’re heading out with friends for the evening, Broad Street offers the best in student nightlife. With a huge selection of restaurants, pubs and canalside bars, this popular area stays lively into the early hours.

Brindley Place is also a short walk from Aston Student Village and offers a diverse café and bar scene. With canalside views and regular entertainment, there are plenty of popular places to choose from here. There is also a Caribbean restaurant Aunt Sally’s and an American diner, Celebz, just a few steps from Aston Student Village itself.

As well as regular street food and music festivals happening in the City centre, there’s also plenty of events that take place around the lake in Aston Student Village itself, from summer BBQ’s to live music events.
What
Birmingham has more miles of canal than Venice and they can be a great place to enjoy and explore by bike, or even find a quiet spot to study and enjoy the sun if the weathers nice. The Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses are nearby too and provide something for everyone in a picturesque setting full of character.

There’s a number of museums and art galleries in the city centre and the Birmingham Hippodrome is also worth a visit if you’re into theatre and entertainment in the form of musicals, opera and pantomime.
Getting Active
There are plenty of gyms in the City centre, with many of them offering student rates. There’s a swimming pool on site too, which happens to be the second oldest in the UK. The University sports centre and leisure facilities are next door to the property too, s everything is located centrally on site.

With three large football stadiums in the City centre, if you’re a football fan there’s plenty of opportunity to watch a game or take a stadium tour. Birmingham City, Aston Villa and West Brom are all based in the City.

The Villa Park Stadium has a long history and offers regular stadium tours. Home to Aston Villa Football club since 1897, it’s a great opportunity to have a walk round and take in the culture and history of the venue.

Birmingham has a big music scene and The Barclaycard Arena isn’t far from the property either. Located in the city centre, make sure to take a look at what events, shows and gigs they have taking place there.
