If you are hungry and don’t want to eat in, Durham has everything you are looking for. For light snacks there are cafés, coffee shops or tea rooms - and even an ice cream parlour and milkshake bar if that is what you are in the mood for.
It has every kind of restaurant you can think of Spanish, Asian, French, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Indian, fish, steak, pizza and your traditional pub Sunday lunch too.
The city has many pubs if you just fancy a drink out in a traditional English pub with an open fire. Or maybe you would prefer one of the many lively bars or one of the wine bars.
In less than 15 minutes you can walk into the town centre and have a pick of all the great places to eat and drink.

What
Durham is home to one of the most recognisable landmarks in the UK, Durham Cathedral. Together with Durham Castle, this UNESCO World Heritage Site forms one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe.
Visit Durham University's Oriental Museum if you are interested in the  archaeology of the Orient. Durham Light Infantry is amongst the finest regimental museums in the country, and shares it's home with Durham Art Gallery. Palace Green Library displays some of their own treasures, as well as hosting world-class exhibitions.
If you're looking for some peace and quiet, visit one of the city's many green spaces, including Crook Hall and Gardens or Durham University's Botanic Garden.

Getting Active
If you are interested in sport you’ll find a full range available in Durham.
A 15 minute walk will take you to Freemans Quay Leisure centre. So, if you fancy a swim, workout, fitness class or personal training the great facilities there will help you stay in shape.
If you are a keen cricket player you could join the cricket club that plays on the grounds in front of Elvet Studios. No excuses there about not getting to training!
There are also local rugby and boating clubs close to Elvet Studios.
