Social Scenes
Glasgow’s West End is a well sought after area, especially for students. It is home to both Byres Road and the popular Ashton Lane that boast some of the best bars, restaurants and cafés within the city. Ashton Lane also hosts a quirky two-screen Cinema.
Kelvin Court is also on the doorsteps of attractions such as Kelvingrove Art Gallery, The Hunterian Museum and the Riverside Museum, all of which are free to visit.
Glasgow is second only to London in the UK for shopping and, as Kelvin Court is in the heart of the West End, you are surrounded by independent boutiques. Glasgow City Centre is only a 20-minute walk away; home to a great range of high street and designer stores.
What
Living at Kelvin Court means you have the perfect base to explore the city, whatever you may be interested in. The property sits at the foot of Kelvingrove Park, a popular location for students and city residents alike, especially in the spring and summer months.
Glasgow is famous for its music scene, with a wide range of venues that are well worth visiting. From smaller venues such as King Tuts Wah Wah Hut (where Oasis were discovered) to larger venues like the S.E.C.C (Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre) and the O2 Glasgow, where you can see international acts on their UK tours.
Getting Active
All of the city’s universities and further education establishments will have their own sports clubs, so whatever your sport, there are a number of organisations that will keep you active whilst in Glasgow.
Glaswegians are particularly passionate about football, and the city is home to three major stadiums. Hampden Park is the national football team’s stadium and is just 20-30 minutes from the city centre. Celtic Park (home to Glasgow Celtic Football Club) and Ibrox Stadium (home to Rangers Football Club) are a similar distance from the property.
Glasgow was host city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has seen massive transformation and investment in its sporting facilities, such as the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome which hosted cycling events at the games.

Close and convenient

Travel and Transport
Kelvin Court is close to all transport links in Glasgow and is easily accessible by car, bus or train. It is minutes away from Kelvin Hall Underground Station which offers access to the rest of the city at a reasonable price.
Kelvin Court is also minutes away from Exhibition Centre train station which has frequent links into Glasgow Central where you would then be able to explore the rest of the UK.
Glasgow Airport is also 15 minutes away via road. If you don’t have access to a car, catch a bus from Dumbarton Road.
The Glasgow underground system allows you to travel around various areas of the city in a short space of time. The nearest station to Kelvin Court is Kelvin Hall.
Other than the subway there are a number of local buses that operate in and around the city and also travel to surrounding areas.
Whilst you are in Glasgow don’t miss out the opportunity to take the train from Queen Street to explore the Scottish Highlands or visit Edinburgh, which is only an hour away.
Local Essentials
Students at Kelvin Court make use of the Sainsbury’s Local which is situated on Argyle Street, just minutes from the property. This street also features a Tesco Metro and a number of convenience stores, perfect for our students.
For larger shopping trips, there is Morrison’s Supermarket five minutes’ walk or two minutes in a taxi from the property, located just off Dumbarton Road.
Byres Road houses all of the leading high street banks too, so everything you need is close by.
For Glasgow University students, Kelvin Court is in a perfect location. The library on Glasgow University campus is only 10 minutes’ walk from the property, found just off University Avenue.
Your Wellbeing
The nearest hospital to Kelvin Court is the Western Infirmary. This is a two-minute walk from Kelvin Court. You can also access GPs based in the health centre section at the hospital. The nearest Accident and Emergency department is at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Govan.
You can register with many local dental practices or contact the Glasgow Dental Hospital which is situated on Sauchiehall Street, and is 15 minutes away from Kelvin Court should you require treatment.
