Every year at check-out time, our buildings see a massive spike in rubbish. But a lot of what goes in the bins could be easily reused or recycled.
That’s why your Unite Students building has a BHF donation point and food bank station. Please help us save lives - and the environment - by donating the things you don’t want.
A good donation is something that’s unbroken, complete, clean and sellable. Nobody’s going to buy a chipped oven dish, a dirty top, or a Scrabble set without the Q.

Charities spend millions every year throwing away donations they can’t sell in their shops. That’s money they can’t use to help people in need.
Most things go in a BHF bag - get yours at reception - and into the BHF donation station. Ask at reception if you don’t know where yours is.
Food, cleaning products, and toiletries go in the food bank station. These must be unused and non-perishable - for food, think tins and jars, bags of pasta and rice, boxes of cereal.
Your donations make a huge difference. In Bristol alone, moving-out students raised £250,000 for charity in 2017. That can fund a vital research project for three years.
It’s because of this cash that 70% of heart attack victims now go home to their families, and 80% of kids born with heart disease get a chance to grow up.
One of the aims here is to send as little as we can to landfill. So if you’ve got something that’s on the ‘can’t donate’ list, check if it’s recyclable before you put it in the bin.
If you don’t want to lug important things home for the summer, then back again, you can store them with LOVESPACE, the by-the-box storage people who collect and deliver.
