If your room is feeling too hot, there are a few simple things you can do to help keep it cool and comfortable.
During the day, keep your blinds or curtains closed and windows shut to block out heat from the sun. In the evening, once it’s cooler outside, open your windows to let fresh air in - creating a through-breeze (by opening windows/doors on opposite sides where possible) can really help cool your room overnight.
Try to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day (usually midday to late afternoon). If your room still feels too warm, you may find cooler, better-ventilated areas elsewhere in the building where you can spend some time.
Fans are allowed and can be a good way to keep air moving and help you feel more comfortable. However, portable air conditioning units aren’t permitted, and you shouldn’t try to vent hot air out of windows or tamper with any window restrictors or safety features. These are in place for your safety and to reduce fire risk, and all electrical items must meet safety standards.
Following these simple steps can make a big difference in keeping your room more comfortable during hot weather.
