An EPC gives a property a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). In general, the higher the rating, the more energy efficient the building is likely to be, and the lower its environmental impact.
Your certificate will usually show two ratings:
Current rating
– based on the building's condition and energy performance at the time it was assessed.
Potential rating
– an estimate of the rating that could be achieved if the recommended improvements were made.
The potential rating is based on recommendations identified during the EPC assessment itself. At Unite Students, we're carrying out detailed energy surveys to better understand the full range of opportunities available at each of our property and the improvements needed to achieve them. This means the longer-term potential for some buildings may be greater than is reflected in the EPC, as we continue to identify, prioritise and invest in energy-efficiency improvements.
